Guizhou Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Opens in Paris, France

In order to spread China’s excellent traditional culture and deepen exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and French civilizations, the Guizhou Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition and Guizhou Cultural Tourism Promotion Activity jointly held by the China Tourism Office in Paris and the French Marketing Center of the Guizhou Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism recently opened in Paris, France.

The exhibition and promotion focused on Guizhou’s unique culture, and demonstrated the diversity and vitality of intangible cultural heritage through handicrafts, clothing accessories, etc. Yan Zhenquan, Minister Counsellor of the Cultural Office of the Chinese Embassy in France, Mary Pierre Boucher, an expert on the Guizhou project of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, and more than 80 people from the cultural and tourism circles of China and France attended the opening ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, French fashion design brand Fang and Chinese Miao silver design brand Fang explained the intangible cultural heritage skills of Guizhou in the way of fashion shows and explanations. The guests showed strong interest in Guizhou ethnic culture and the handicrafts and clothing accessories on display, and communicated with the organizers and designers.

Zhang Zhu, the person in charge of the French Marketing Center of Guizhou Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, said that Guizhou, as a community of many ethnic minorities in Southwest China, has rich intangible cultural heritage resources, including festivals, languages, music and well preserved ethnic handicrafts. He hoped that this exhibition would be an opportunity to show more Guizhou elements to the French people and tell a good story about Guizhou.

Mu Yuwei, director of the China Tourism Office in Paris, said that he hoped to let more French people know about Guizhou’s rich natural and cultural resources and promote cultural and tourism exchanges between China and France through intangible cultural heritage exhibitions and cultural tourism promotion activities.
